Student loans: how repayment actually works

Two main types

Income-based: you repay a percentage of what you earn above a threshold, and it may be written off after a set time (common for government loans in the UK, Australia and some US plans). Fixed: a set monthly payment like any other loan, with interest (common for private loans).
