Car finance vs buying outright

$199 a month for a brand new car. Sounds great — what's the catch?

The simple version

Balloon-style car finance (PCP in the UK, similar to leasing elsewhere) keeps monthly payments low because you're only paying off part of the car's value. At the end you either hand it back, trade it in, or pay a large final 'balloon' payment to keep it.
